A talk on Leadership and Management
Philosophy by Mr. Park Sam-Yeol :
The School of International Affairs , Hindustan University
conducted a Guest Lecture on 30th November 2011 at the Founder's
Block Seminar Theatre. Mr. Park, Sam-Yeol, Senior Manager,
Hyundai Chennai delivered a lecture on " How to be successfully
established in India".
19 students from Korea enrolled in English, Indian Business
and Culture for International Students(EIBIS) course at Hindustan
University attended the programme along with the MBA students
of HITS and National Institute of Management Studies, Karapakkam.
Ms. Sukhi Lee, The Indo-Korea Cultural & Information Centre,
Dr. Subramanian, HOD Automobile Dept. Ms. Akkara Sherine,
Academic Co-ordinator, EIBIS course , HITS and staff members
of NIMS were also present.
The programme commenced with a welcome address and a brief
introduction of the Guest. Mr. Park Sam-Yeol. There were two
sessions of lecture. In the first session the speaker addressed
on the growth of Hyundai company and he explained the secret
of success. He emphasized that global networking, shared values,
blending culture , leadership style , frontier spirit , orientation
programmes technical training and overcoming challenges were
the criteria that led the company to success. He also presented
a case study on Hyundai's chances of sustaining its growth
in India in the next 30-50 years.
In the second session Mr. Park dealt with the Leadership
style, transformation of leadership model, creative leadership,
Role of HR and how to deal with people and also presented
a case study on Good vs Bad Leadership. He spoke about the
three major approaches. The Reactive Approach, Interactive
Approach and the Pro-active Approach. He highlighted on various
aspects of Management Philosophy and stated that corporate
philosophy is the foundation for high performance. The vision
focuses on goals and activities, the management philosophy
focuses on performance. He spoke about the global perspective
of an organization he concluded the session stating that Leaders
create work culture, good management makes good workers. There
was an interactive session with the students at the end of
the lecture.
