Workshop on "Indian Marketing
of Cookies" by Prof.Bruce D. Miller. :
Profile:
Prof. Bruce D. Miller,an American graduate from Campbell
University and also from IIM-A(1979),who also was a successful
entrepreneur in the US for about 25 years and later his interest
in the globalization towards management field brought him
to India in 2004. Over the years he has worked as a trainer
and professor. Prof. Bruce D.Miller is currently Dean of International
Affairs for Hindustan University, Chennai, prior to which
he was the Head of the International Affairs for the Rajagiri
Group Institutions at Kochi.
The Workshop:
We were so glad to listen and learn a lot of new vital information
that he had shared with us. His ideas about his cookie industry
showed us an insight about how the cookie industry has developed
throughout the years and grew over the market sector over
the years. He also shared his thoughts on Red Ocean, Blue
Ocean, Reverse Engineering and various other marketing strategies
related to management field. He also showed the various factors
that he faced as a challenge in his business setting up and
that we've to think outside the box and that what we learn
in the classes are just 25%-30% applicable in practical work
environment. He enlightened on how a person has to seize opportunities
and hard-work to maintain stability and success throughout
by keeping an overview on what happens around the world in
business perspective. He shared with us his experiences that
he had gained when he worked in Kochi as the Founder Vice
Chairman of the Indian Society for Training and Development
(ISTD), Kochi Chapter. He showed that marketing has to be
done after considerations of people's tastes, preferences,
based on their culture, and also emphasized on proper targeting
of customer group. He made the seminar more interactive by
providing with all of us some cookies that he had baked and
asked about his product features and told about his plans
and ideas of setting up a cookie industry.
